Excerpts from the booklet

The Kuhn Organ in the Church of St. Anthony in Zurich
When the Kuhn organ was inaugurated in the Church of St. Anthony (St. Anton) in 1914, it reflected the state of the art of early twentieth-century organ design and was regarded as an ultramodern instrument in which »all the serious attainments of modern organ building found employment, « as the Neue Züricher Nachrichten stated at the time. This statement applied to the organ’s pneumatic key action and stop action as well as to the detached console (a smaller copy of the console in St. Sulpice in Paris), which with its two free and six set combinations, two swell pedals, crescendo pedal, suboctave and superoctave couplers, numerous single cancel buttons, and other playing aids is just as strongly impressive as the cockpit of a modern passenger aircraft. Excerpts from the reviews

Com, 2005)

„The two main items on the CD are the organ sonatas Nr. 19 and 20 composed in 1899 and 1901respecively. They are two works full of splendour and light apart from their mould int true mark of German organ romanticism. They are both nearly half an hour long, but their beauty makes them pass in a whiff… The organ in this recording is one of the most exciting sounds I have ever experienced. It is the Kuhn organ in St. Antony’s in Zurich, masterfully played by Rudolf Innig. Throughout the series this accomplished musician took his listeners to six great historical organs in Chur, Schaffhausen, Schramberg, Winterthur ans Zurich. The journey is now complete and organ aficionados should not hesitate to invest in this monumental series.”(Classical.Net, 2005)
